When talking to a mentor:
State clearly what industry you are interested.
Identify your goals and what you hope to achieve at end of the mentorship.
Decide how often you want to meet with your mentor and how long each mentoring session will be.
You are expected to:
Assume responsibility for identifying your needs and goals.
Be initiative in directing your learning.
Be respectful to you mentor.
Be punctual for meetings.
Be receptive to feedback from your mentor.
Develop and utilize reflective practice.
MEET YOUR MENTOR
Align your goals and expectations with your mentor to identify areas of improvement as well as decide whether your mentor is right for you.
RESUME & COVER LETTER
Mentors will guide you on improving your resume to appear more attractive to recruiters. You are expected to take responsibility and make changes based on your mentor’s advice.
SOURCING & NETWORKING
Identify companies that you will be interested in and understand their application process. Your mentor will teach you how to network through various platforms. Your mentor may also help to link you up with their connections
Depending on the industry of your choice, your mentor will teach you how to ace your interview (from case interviews to technical and situational interviews). Practice on your technical skills if you are applying for a technical role.
You will put your skills to test where your mentor would grade your performance through a mock interview and provide feedback on how you can further improve.
